First Communion

First Holy Communion

Catholics believe the Eucharist, or Communion, is both a sacrifice and a meal. We believe in the real presence of Jesus, who died for our sins. As we receive Christ's Body and Blood, we also are nourished spiritually and brought closer to God.

Our parish celebrates the Sacrament of First Eucharist with our 2nd grade students each May. Students wishing to receive their First Communion at St. Nicholas-St Mary should be enrolled in our Faith Formation program beginning in 1st grade. Please contact Justin DePasquale, Director of Faith Formation, at faithformation@stnicholasrc.com

"Holy Communion augments our union with Christ. The principal fruit of receiving the Eucharist in Holy Communion is an intimate union with Christ Jesus. Indeed, the Lord said: 'He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood abides in me, and I in him.'"

(Catechism of the Catholic Church, #1391).
