Confirmation

Confirmation

Confirmation seals our life of faith in Jesus. Its signs are the laying on of hands on a person’s head, most often by a bishop, and the anointing with oil. Like Baptism, Confirmation is received only once.

Our parish celebrates the Sacrament of Confirmation on Pentecost or during n the Easter Season each year for our 8th grade students. Adults are also confirmed as part of RCIA of adults. For information about our Confirmation program please contact Justin DePasquale, Director of Faith Formation, at
faithformation@stnicholasrc.com or the Parish Office at 570-823-7736.

“Baptism, the Eucharist, and the sacrament of Confirmation together constitute the ‘sacraments of Christian initiation,’ whose unity must be safeguarded…The reception of Confirmation is necessary for the completion of baptismal grace. For by the sacrament of Confirmation, the baptized are more perfectly bound to the Church and are enriched with a special strength of the Holy Spirit. Hence they are, as true witnesses of Christ, more strictly obliged to spread and defend the faith by word and deed.” (Catechism of the Catholic Church, #1285)
